The Foundation for the Junior Blind is a non-profit organization servicing the blind and visually impaired community. The Foundation's center of operations and main campus is based out of Los Angeles, CA.

Customer Challenge

• Establish a web presence accessible to a broad audience including individuals with normal vision, low vision, and the blind.
• Develop the architecture of the site to meet the accessibility requirements for screen magnifiers and screen readers used by the visually impaired.
• Create an aesthetically pleasing site that is not offensive to the visually impaired but still graphically pleasing to sighted visitors.
• Create a design that matches the Foundation's current brand identity.
• Incorporate an online donations center for potential donors
• Easy of navigation
• Address the large Spanish speaking audience.
• Provide information about the foundation and its programs
• Update the community about upcoming events and recent news

Key Objectives

• Straight-forward navigational design allows users to easily locate desired information
• Visit the Los Angeles campus and spend time learning all aspects of what the foundation does on a day to day basis.
• Incorporate colors that are warm and welcoming and match the Foundation's existing logos and brand
• Optimize the loading speed of photos, graphics, and content
• Font size adjuster used on the text only version of the site.
• Provided behind-the-scenes coding to facilitate the use of JAWS (the screen- reading software most often used by individuals who are blind and visually impaired) so that the site would be accessible to the targeted audience of individuals who are blind and visually impaired
• Provide content in Spanish and English.
• Create an online community that will bring back visitors time and time again.

Our Solution
